Creating + Planning + Being

Imagine showing up on your wedding day with confidence and peace of mind. You arrive with a big smile on your face because you are about to marry the love of your life and celebrate with people who matter to you most.

Yet, leading up to your special day you feel anxious about putting on a production that is picture perfect. Expectations are high followed by fear presenting itself in the form of being a perfectionist and people pleaser. Then you also realize, oh shit there is a lot of people I need to manage and need to become an effective leader overnight!

I'm here to tell you this. You ARE a beautiful mess and that is what makes you insanely human and real. Who wouldn't have some level of anxiety doing something you have never done before. You don't have to pretend to have it together all the time.  Yes, I know it is easier said than done, but give yourself permission to do so. Nothing beautiful gets created without some level of discomfort or change. You are completely normal.

My advice is to slow down and just think about the big picture. Look at who will all be there to bring your vision to life and celebrate with you. You have selected your wedding party, creative team, family (I guess you don't get to select here as much), and guests for a reason. Let your wedding party show you their love by supporting along the way. For your creative team, communicate with them your vision and let them do what they do best on your wedding day. For family, just count your blessings. =) And of course, for all your guests who show up to celebrate for the right reasons...be grateful.

If you can step back and see the big picture, then you will be able to have greater peace of mind to be present (see my learnings from Eckhart Tolle's retreat showing up?). Moments of joy exist every step of the way, you just have to slow down to experience it.  Let's keep exploring together.

Happy Planning!!

With gratitude,
Samantha

More Than a Thoughtful Note

Hello!

Love notes, snail mail. Delivering joy.

Today, I am celebrating human connections.

Each written word of gratitude means the world to me. A heart felt reminder to measure life success by moments and human connections. To continue to show up each day and share our discovered talents with others. It is the surest way to live our own truth, don't you all think?

Thank you Elizabeth and Dong for this reminder. One day we will meet again in your hometown of Southern California!

Make moments + spread love

Making moments and spreading love.

Two simple things.

All that matters at the end of it all.

Doing what I love with people I love.

I have a choice each day to make memories and spread love everywhere I go. I may wake up to a different world, but the choice still remains within me.

Yes, will be dark gloomy days but my spirit will be too big and strong to be dimmed. I will come out the other side with a greater appreciation for ordinary days and desire to spread love and light in this world.

To me creative planning is more than just organizing details for events and weddings. It is a purposeful way of living. To believe, imagine, and celebrate what matters most every day. The ability to see beyond the material world and come to a peaceful place of love and good intentions. When uncertainty presents itself, go within to find your strength and purpose.

Let the adventures begin

Oh my gosh, 2017 is here already!

It has been ages since I last picked up a printed planner book. All of my personal and business planning have been digital on Google calendar and Evernote. From my online studies with Marie Forleo's Business School, I stumbled across Danielle LaPorte's Desire Map Planner, Daily Edition (not sponsored post, just plain love for her work).

The planner makes you think about how you truly want to feel and adjust your actions and thoughts accordingly. Love how gratitude is also a key component because it truly puts everything into perspective. So excited to finally be able to use it every day.

Austin - 1.jpg

Here's a snapshot of my desired feelings and actions. It will help me reset my soul daily.

My desired feelings: peace, love, connected, creative, purposeful, alive, strong, healthy

Actions:

  • Unplug and be present with my family
  • Enjoy the wonders of motherhood and giving my daughters a safe space to grow, make mistakes, get back up, and learn.
  • Be spontaneous and do things out of the norm
  • Build a meaningful business by connecting and serving thoughtful + positive individuals
  • Collaborate with creative souls who are making an impact for good
  • Plan my day based on my desired feelings instead of simply results
  • Protect my time and respect other people's time
  • Get rest and prioritize self love and acceptance
  • Wake up 5:30 am and write daily
  • Run outside and break a sweat more

Putting my actions into practice.

During winter break, the hubs and I took an impromptu road trip to Austin with our little ones. The stars all aligned: doggy daycare had one last open spot, our aging SUV got a brand new battery and alternator the day before, and Omni Hotel promo rates matched our travel dates. Besides using my phone to take photos, I unplugged and consciously took in every moment. Best of all, the memories will live on forever.

The weather was gorgeous the first day in Austin. Grateful to have stumbled across Guero’s Oak Garden for live music and good vibes.

Elephant

The white elephant is a pristine symbol of Buddhism to this day. When associated with the Buddha, the meaning of an elephant tattoo conveys compassion, truth, peace, love and kindness.

I won't be getting an elephant tattoo anytime soon. But loving my new gift to myself, a beautiful elephant design by Lucy Hale with Casetify. Every planner or creative soul needs an inspiring phone case that's drop-resistance right? Glad we are on the same page.

Elephant symbolizes:

  • physical and mental strength
  • responsibility and earthiness
  • stability and patience
  • calmness and confidence
  • jewels of contemplation

Elephants remind us of our inner strength and desire to dream big while giving us the drive to take action.

Rocky Horror Pop-Up Appreciation Party

Hello!

It's been crazy fun coordinating my final events for 2016! Inspired to relaunch my blog so I can share more with you all along the way.

On Sunday, November 20th, we had the great pleasure of coordinating an intimate gathering with the cast and crew of Rocky Horror Show, hosted by Pierre Alexandre (Dr. Frank N. Furter).

After the finale, cast members and close friends enjoyed a special and thoughtful event at The Maison Blanche.

What a fun experience to help Pierre bring his vision to life. Here are some photos I took with my iphone before guests arrived and during the party. Enjoy!

MAKE SIMPLE AWESOME, THAT IS ALL

"Creativity is more than just being different. anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. what’s hard is to be as simple as bach. making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity” – Charles Mingus

Make simple awesome. That is all really.

A date day off to enjoy a cup of coffee with someone you love.

Wear an apron that makes you smile and get some fresh flowers.

You are now both awesome + creative my dear.
